Automatic Plasma Storage System

Automatic storage facilities offer plasma storage in extremely low temperatures and in ambient conditions assuring unmatched plasma quality.

The innovative solution is our technology operating at extremally low temperatures -40°C. Typical solutions are based on a standard manual refrigeration plant operation and plasma storage management process, in which people have to work in near-Arctic conditions.
With the automatic storage system, plasma storage can be managed without ever entering the refrigeration facility. Medical personnel operate their storage facilities from their offices. A refrigeration unit has the maximum capacity of 25,000 plasma units and can be adapted to an existing building. The solution is scalable and gives access to storage even from three floors of a building. The aggregate volume of plasma stored in CoolSystems refrigeration facilities in Poland has already exceeded half a million units!

Use cases

Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center in Warsaw

  • Customer Case
The Customer was incurring significant costs of plasma storage in external warehouses. New storage sites have become a necessity.
  • CoolSystems – implementation of the system
A design was prepared for adaptation of old coal-fired boiler station premises for the purposes of modern plasma storage, with new extra rooms designed for the blood expedition department.
  • Project results
As a result, 60,000 plasma units capacity storage was developed, together with extra rooms and advanced refrigeration systems.

Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center in Gdańsk

  • Customer Case
Blood components production was organized in the basement of the building and was extremally manual. Production started to grow and it has become necessary to scale up facility and change the way they work to meet modern requirements.
  • CoolSystems – implementation of the system
We designed and built up from scratch new wing of a building with the size of 1500 m2. The building was adapted to the production and dispatch of blood components. The heat generated by cooling systems is used to power technical equipment of the building.
  • Project results
Three floors Automatic Plasma Storage has become a heart of new building and new blood component production process. It has capacity of 80,000 containers and average access time is 1 min. Innovative solution minimized the number of refrigeration systems and the consumption of electricity has been reduced by 20kW. Now the building is self-sufficient in terms of heating and hot water.

Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center in Białystok

  • Customer Case
Storage space for plasma units was extremally small. As a temporary solution a mobile sea containers (located at the parking lot) were used for storage.
  • CoolSystems – implementation of the system
The new storage concept was delivered in extremally short term. The Automatic Plasma Storage with capacity of 25,000 containers was designed and built up in record 3 months time.
  • Project results
The first in the World three floors Automatic Plasma Storage was designed and delivered. New innovative solution has solved capacity shortages but also changed internal transport and logistic process to more efficient.

Tube sealing and labeling robot

This robot delivers automation of the tube sealing process and labeling of blood sample segments used for pre-transfusion cross-testing. Among the key advantages of the device, there is the streamlining of personnel work, convenience in use, and practical minimization of concatenation-related risks.

20 seconds is the time needed to prepare and validate up to 6 blood sample segments, with one person being able to operate two machines at the same time. These solutions have been successfully implemented at the Polish Blood Donation Centres.
